Face-to-face and remote assessments for adults, students and young people from Year 9 upwards
Do you, your child, or a student you support need to know whether dyslexia is affecting learning, work, study or confidence?
Lancashire Dyslexia Specialists provides full diagnostic assessments for young people from Year 9 upwards, university students, adults and employees. Assessments are available face-to-face in Lancashire or remotely online, depending on individual circumstances and suitability.
Assessments are suitable for individuals who want to understand whether dyslexia may explain persistent difficulties with reading, spelling, writing, processing speed, working memory, organisation or confidence with learning.
A full diagnostic assessment provides a detailed profile of strengths and areas of difficulty. Where appropriate, the report can support applications for Disabled Students’ Allowance, Access to Work, education support, workplace adjustments or personal understanding.
Assessment fee
Full diagnostic assessment: £350

-
a formal written report
-
practical recommendations for education, study or work
-
a follow-up feedback meeting online or in person
Assessments can take between three and four hours. Reports are normally completed within two to three weeks of the assessment.
Who is this suitable for?

Not sure whether you need a full assessment?
A full diagnostic report is not always required for exam access arrangements. In some cases, a Form 8/access arrangements assessment completed with the school, college or learning provider may be more appropriate.
If you are unsure which route you need, please complete the enquiry form, and advice will be provided on the most suitable next step.
How the assessment process works

1. Initial enquiry
You complete a short enquiry form explaining who the assessment is for and why it is needed.

4. Assessment appointment
The assessment is completed either face-to-face or online. It usually explores literacy skills, underlying processing skills, learning history and current impact.

2. Suitability check
We check whether a full diagnostic assessment is appropriate and whether remote or face-to-face assessment is the best option.

5. Verbal feedback
You receive initial feedback after the assessment where appropriate.

3. Background information
You complete background questionnaires before the appointment. For school, college or university students, additional educational information may be requested.

6. Written report
A full written diagnostic report is provided, usually within 3 weeks.
