About Lancashire Dyslexia Specialists

Fulfilling potential through specialist dyslexia assessment and support

Lancashire Dyslexia Specialists provides specialist dyslexia diagnostic assessments, exam access arrangement assessments and study skills support for young people, students and adults. Services are available face-to-face in Lancashire and remotely online where appropriate.

We understand that seeking support can feel overwhelming. Many individuals and families arrive at assessment after a long period of uncertainty, frustration or unanswered questions. Our aim is to provide a professional, supportive and clear assessment experience that helps individuals understand their learning profile and access the right support.

Specialist assessment and reporting

We specialise in dyslexia assessment for individuals from Year 9 onwards, including learners in school, college, university, apprenticeships and the workplace. Diagnostic reports can support personal understanding, education planning, Disabled Students’ Allowance applications, Access to Work discussions and workplace reasonable adjustments where appropriate.

Assessments explore the individual’s pattern of strengths and difficulties across literacy, cognitive processing, learning history and current impact. Reports are written clearly, with practical recommendations that can be used in education, study or work.

Study skills and workplace support

Alongside assessment, we provide specialist study skills support for higher education students in receipt of Disabled Students’ Allowance, as well as strategy-based support for individuals in the workplace.

Support may include:

  • planning and organisation

  • academic reading

  • assignment structure

  • written expression

  • revision and exam strategies

  • note-taking

  • time management

  • assistive technology strategies

  • confidence and independence with learning
